Three tests to be passed

  • The site must not be in an Environment Agency groundwater source protection zone.
  • Soil porosity tests should be performed to see if a soak-away will work. This gives a good indication of what size soak-away is required.
  • Ideally the site must consist of soil that passes the percolation test – ideally sandy/stone/chalk- Not heavy soil/clay.
